Message from the Founder and co-chair of the Board

Minister the Honourable

Edmund Bartlett, CD, MP,

Minister of Tourism, Jamaica & Chairman, Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC)

The tourism industry is one of the most powerful forces for economic growth, cultural exchange, and human progress. Yet, it is also among the most vulnerable to external shocks—especially climate-related crises such as hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons. The GTRCMC Hurricane Recovery Dashboard is our answer to this reality—a digital gateway to preparedness, coordination, and recovery. This platform embodies our belief that resilience is not reactive-it is proactive. It equips destinations with the data, tools, and partnerships they need to anticipate and manage crises while accelerating their recovery.

Whether it is a small tourism business, a community organization, or a national government, the Dashboard ensures that no one stands alone in the face of disaster. Jamaica’s experience with Hurricane Melissa has reminded us that resilience must be built into the very DNA of tourism. Similarly, our partners in the Philippines, who have faced the destructive force of typhoons, continue to show the world that preparedness and community solidarity are the bedrock of recovery.

Through this Dashboard, the GTRCMC reinforces its mission to transform vulnerability into strength, and disruption into renewal. Together, we will not only rebuild but reimagine tourism, more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient than ever before.
