PROJECT LOCATION

The Centre will  be housed  at the University  of the West Indies  (UWI), Mona Campus.   The Campus has two locations  in Jamaica – Montego Bay and Kingston. Created by a Royal Charter in 1948, the UWI, originally University College of the West Indies (UCWI), is a public univer s it y system established  to serve the higher  education  needs of the residents  of 18 English-speak ing countries and territories  in the Caribbean. These are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize,  Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica,  Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent  and the Grenadines,  Trinidad  and Tobago, and Turks and Caicos Islands.  In the last 70 years, the UWI has produced three UWI (Mona) Nobel Laureates, 72 Rhodes Scholars, 3 Gates Cambridge Scholarship  winners, 18 current or former Caribbean Heads of Government,  and an Olympic  medalist.

The  UWI boasts a world-class  reputation  that will  enhance  the credibility  of the Centre in a symbiotic  way as the Centre will also, in its operations, enhance the overall mission and vision of the University.  The Centre will  also have affiliate  centres and branches in countries  around the world.
